A Smart Starting Point

Choosing the right windows and doors for your home

Beautiful windows do more than frame the view — they shape the way your home feels, performs, and lasts. Use this three-step framework before you shop.

01

Assess Your Environment

Start with how your home sits on its lot. Prevailing winds, sun exposure, and tree cover all change which windows perform best. North-facing rooms feel the cold first; south-facing rooms heat under summer glare. Understanding your home's microclimate is the first step toward windows that hold up to the way you actually live.

02

Choose a Functional Style

Pick operations that match each room. Casements crank open to catch a breeze. Hung windows slide vertically for tighter spaces. Picture windows maximize a view. Sliders work where you can't swing outward. Door styles — traditional, contemporary, swing, sliding, lift-and-slide — should feel intentional, not generic.

03

Select the Right Materials

Vinyl frames are low-maintenance and energy-efficient — ideal for most homes. Aluminum frames offer architectural strength for oversized openings. Hybrid frames combine both, balancing thermal performance with structural rigidity. Pair the right frame with Low-E glass, argon gas, and thermal edge spacers for a window built to weather every Canadian season.

Engineered for the Climate

Built for Canadian Winter (and summer)

Canadian climates run from −40 °C winters to humid summer highs. Every Everlast product is engineered with a multi-layer thermal system that holds heat in during winter, blocks solar gain in summer, and keeps condensation away from your sills all year.

Low-E Glass Coatings

A microscopically thin metallic layer reflects radiant heat back into your home in winter and blocks solar gain in summer. Bills drop. Comfort goes up. Low-E coatings are standard on every Everlast product.

Argon Gas Fill

Argon is denser than air, so when it is sealed between glass panes it slows heat transfer through the cavity. Paired with Low-E, it delivers U-values as low as 0.85 W/m²·K — among the most efficient in Canada.

Thermal Edge Spacers

Premium stainless steel spacer bars sit between glass panes, minimizing the cold bridge at the perimeter where condensation typically forms. The result is warmer glass edges and drier sills, year after year.

Triple Weather Stripping

Two coextruded compression bulbs and a pile brush form a multi-barrier seal against air and water infiltration. Every Everlast window is tested to CW Performance Grade — the same standard used in commercial buildings.

Choose the right frame for your project

Three frame families, each engineered for a different combination of structural strength, thermal performance, and aesthetic presence.

Series 100 / 150

Vinyl

Maintenance-free uPVC frame with thermally welded mitre joints. Excellent thermal performance, lowest lifetime cost, no painting or staining required. The right choice for most residential applications.

Series 300 / 350

Hybrid

Aluminum exterior, vinyl thermal-break interior. Combines the structural rigidity of aluminum with the energy performance of vinyl. Ideal for larger openings, mid-rise applications, and demanding architectural details.

Series 400 "Altitude"

Aluminum

Extruded aluminum with the Performance Core thermal break. Designed for impressive performance, elegance, and durability — meets CW Classification for mid-rise institutional buildings, brought to residential scale.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Honest answers about windows, doors, and what to expect when you specify them for your home.

How long do quality windows last?

A well-made vinyl or hybrid window installed correctly will last 30 to 40 years. Aluminum-framed windows can last even longer in commercial settings. Lifespan depends on frame material, the glass package, and installation quality — not just the manufacturer's warranty.

What is the difference between vinyl, aluminum, and hybrid window frames?

Vinyl (uPVC) frames offer excellent thermal performance and require no maintenance. Aluminum frames are strong enough for oversized or commercial openings. Hybrid frames combine an aluminum exterior with a vinyl thermal-break interior — delivering the strength of one with the energy efficiency of the other.

What does Low-E glass mean?

Low-E (low-emissivity) glass has a microscopically thin metallic coating that reflects radiant heat. In winter it keeps interior warmth from escaping; in summer it blocks solar heat from entering. Low-E glass is standard on every Everlast product.

Why is argon gas used in windows?

Argon is a colourless, odourless gas sealed between window panes. It is denser than air, which slows the transfer of heat through the glass cavity and improves a window's overall thermal performance. Krypton is also available for triple-pane applications in extreme climates.

Are Everlast windows Energy Star certified?

Yes. Every Everlast window is Energy Star certified, and most achieve the Energy Star Most Efficient designation. All ratings are tested and verified by the NFRC (National Fenestration Rating Council).

How do I choose between casement and hung windows?

Casement windows crank outward and open fully — ideal for ventilation and easy cleaning. Hung windows slide vertically, which suits spaces where outward-swinging sashes would obstruct walkways, patios, or porches. Both achieve the same energy performance when properly specified.

What is a lift-and-slide patio door?

A lift-and-slide patio door uses specialized hardware that lifts the panel off its seal as you push the handle, allowing the panel to glide effortlessly along the track. It is the smoothest patio door operation available and is ideal for very large, heavy glass panels.

Are Everlast products made in Canada?

Yes. Everlast windows and doors have been designed and manufactured in Canada since 1962, with manufacturing in Toronto and Calgary and distribution across the country. Every product is built for the Canadian climate.
